ABB, a Swiss-based technology company, has announced plans to invest $280 million in expanding the production capacity and modernizing its European robotics hub in Sweden. This investment will involve the construction of a new integrated robotics campus at its existing site in Vasteras, replacing nine buildings dating back to 1974. The project is expected to commence next year, with the new campus projected to open in late 2026.

Since 2018, ABB has already invested $450 million in enhancing its three robotics facilities, including sites in Shanghai and Auburn Hills. The expansion in Sweden aims to increase production capacity by 50%, enabling ABB to better cater to the growing European market.

According to Bjorn Rosengren, CEO of ABB, the existing facility in Sweden already manufactures approximately 95% of the robots that ABB sells in Europe. The investment in expanding the European robotics hub will further strengthen ABB’s position in the region and enhance its ability to provide cutting-edge robotic solutions.

By creating a state-of-the-art robotics campus, ABB aims to leverage the latest technologies, streamline production processes, and foster innovation.
