    Goa International Robotics Festival shines a light on STEM education

    Panaji – Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Rohan Khaunte has lauded the Goa International Robotics Festival, recognizing its role in promoting academic excellence and personal growth through its dedication to fostering STEM education.

    The state department of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, in collaboration with InfinityX STEM Foundation, has announced the upcoming Goa International Robotics Festival 2024, which will take place from January 25 to 28.

    This festival will feature multiple exciting events, including the FIRST Tech Challenge India Robotics Championship, the FIRST Lego League Open Championship, and a Robotics Exhibition that will showcase the thrilling FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics competition.

    To solidify this collaboration, P. Abhishek, Director of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, along with Ashvin B. Savant, Chairman and Managing Director of InfinityX STEM Foundation and FIRST INDIA, signed a memorandum of understanding in the presence of Minister Khaunte.

    What is FIRST? FIRST stands for ‘For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.’ It is a not-for-profit public charity that aims to inspire young minds and promote interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

    The flagship event of the festival is the FTC Robotics competition, an annual competition in India designed for students in grades 7-12, between the ages of 12 and 18. This competition provides a platform for students to showcase their technical skills and problem-solving abilities. The top two teams from the championships will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent India at the esteemed FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas, USA.

    Additionally, ten teams from India will have the privilege to represent the nation at the Asia Pacific Championship held in Sydney, Australia.
