Nauticus Robotics Signs MOU with MMA Offshore to Deploy Aquanauts in Asia Pacific

Nauticus Robotics, a company that specializes in developing autonomous robots for data collection and intervention services in the ocean, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MMA Offshore, an Australian offshore support vessel firm. The agreement aims to deploy Nauticus Robotics’ autonomous subsea robots, known as Aquanauts, in the Asia-Pacific region.

The focus of the MOU is to develop an integrated service offering that provides cost-efficient and environmentally friendly maintenance of subsea infrastructures in the Asia-Pacific region. It also paves the way for Nauticus Robotics’ services to be integrated into MMA Offshore’s offerings.

The Aquanauts possess advanced machine intelligence and supervised autonomy capabilities, enabling the use of smaller service vessels that were previously underutilized for inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) operations. MMA Offshore owns and operates such vessels. By combining their capabilities, Nauticus Robotics and MMA Offshore can offer a more economical solution compared to conventional methods.

“This partnership with MMA Offshore is a significant milestone for Nauticus, as it strengthens our global presence in the industry,” said Nicolaus Radford, founder and CEO of Nauticus Robotics. “By aligning with an established player like MMA Offshore across multiple offshore markets, we have a great opportunity to expand our reach and customer base internationally.”

The collaboration with MMA Offshore follows Nauticus Robotics’ recent announcement to deploy its Aquanauts in Brazil to service Petrobras assets. The company had also previously announced plans to open operating bases in Stavanger, Norway and Aberdeen, Scotland, as part of its international expansion strategy.

MMA Offshore expressed excitement about the partnership and the opportunity to integrate Nauticus Robotics’ leading autonomous robotic and AI software technology into its subsea services. This partnership will enable MMA Offshore’s clients to have access to the latest advancements in autonomous and machine learning technology for their subsea requirements.

Overall, this collaboration between Nauticus Robotics and MMA Offshore signifies a strategic move to disrupt the field of autonomous subsea robotics and solidify Nauticus Robotics’ position as an industry leader.
