Open Ocean Robotics Awarded Multiple Contracts by NOAA for Uncrewed Maritime Systems

Open Ocean Robotics, in collaboration with the 1stMission Team, has been selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as an awardee for three Multiple Award IDIQ contracts. These contracts, managed by the NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) Uncrewed Systems Operation Center (UxSOC), cover Meteorological and Oceanographic Observations, Living Marine Resource Surveys and Research, and Ocean Exploration and Characterization.

This partnership with NOAA allows Open Ocean Robotics to provide Uncrewed Maritime Systems (UMS) Services, enhancing NOAA’s capacity for coastal and open ocean monitoring. By collecting oceanographic and atmospheric data over vast areas, Open Ocean Robotics and NOAA can support research, exploration, maritime domain awareness, environmental protection, and weather forecasting initiatives.

These contracts are valid for three years, starting from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2026, and have the potential to generate significant revenue for the Team. Open Ocean Robotics is committed to advancing ocean science and environmental stewardship through innovative UMS solutions.

Director of Sales at Open Ocean Robotics, Andy Ziegwied, expressed excitement about the collaboration with NOAA. According to Ziegwied, this award reflects NOAA’s confidence in Open Ocean Robotics and their strategic partnership with the 1stMission Team. Together, they aim to further NOAA’s mission of understanding and conserving the nation’s vital marine resources, contributing to a more sustainable future for our oceans.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Open Ocean Robotics, solidifying their position as a leading provider of UMS services in the marine industry.
