Automated Fulfillment Centers and Last-Mile Delivery Enhancements

A.P. Moller-Maersk and Fabric have collaborated to launch a new automated fulfillment center in Dallas. The facility, powered by Fabric’s robotic and software technology, is designed to optimize warehouse productivity while minimizing real estate requirements. Fabric’s high-density, high-throughput storage system, combined with advanced robots and software, allows for efficient order fulfillment and same- or next-day delivery. The center is best suited for urban areas, allowing goods to be closer to consumer populations and reducing shipping costs.

Oracle and Uber have introduced Collect and Receive on the Oracle Retail platform, which connects retailers and consumers to enhance last-mile delivery. Through pre-integrated APIs, retailers can now access Uber Direct, the company’s white-label delivery solution. This partnership enables retailers to offer customers more delivery options, including same-day and scheduled deliveries, as well as order pickup and returns. According to research commissioned by Uber, consumers expect express delivery as an option, and companies that provide this service are more likely to retain their customer base.

Salesforce has launched Einstein Copilot, the next generation of its artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Einstein Copilot for Merchants, the retail-specific version, assists users in setting up fully featured stores, automates catalog data management, and generates personalized promotions and product descriptions. The platform generates personalized promotions based on customer data to optimize conversions. It also hosts AI-powered product descriptions for different customer groups, ensuring an ideal content match for each customer.

Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) has partnered with True Fit, an AI-driven fit technology platform, resulting in a 2 percent revenue increase and a 15 percent reduction in fit-related returns. APL leverages True Fit’s Fashion Genome to provide fit recommendations based on global shopper data. This fit guidance improves customer confidence and loyalty.
