Movu Robotics, formerly known as stow Robotics, has announced a rebranding and the launch of a new product, the Movu eligo robot picking arm. This rebranding aims to highlight the company’s focus on high-tech solutions and showcase its capabilities in robotics and software development.
Located in Lokeren, Belgium, Movu Robotics has a state-of-the-art facility equipped for engineering, research and development, and production. The headquarters’ strategic location between the university cities of Antwerp and Ghent aims to attract young talent in the robotics sector while providing convenience for customers and partners visiting the region.
The company will continue to offer its existing products, such as the Movu atlas (a pallet shuttle system), the Movu escala (a bin shuttle), and Movu iFollow (a range of autonomous mobile robots). The newly launched Movu eligo is an AI-driven picking robot that can handle up to 600 items per hour. It is integrated with the Movu escala bin shuttle for fully automated bin picking.
Machine vision and a system of grippers enable the robot arm to grasp products up to 30cm in size, while machine learning technology provides continuous feedback for improved picking accuracy. Movu claims that the pick accuracy of the Movu eligo exceeds 99%.
Apart from hardware, Movu Robotics also offers its own warehouse execution system (WES), which consists of Movu ops for operations management, Movu tower for resource availability, and Movu pilot for order execution. This software is also demonstrated at Movu’s Experience Centre in Lokeren.
In an interview with Stefan Pieters, Chief Executive of Movu Robotics, he explained the reasoning behind the rebranding. According to Pieters, the goal is to highlight that Movu Robotics is a hi-tech company that develops robots and software, with stow racks being just one component of their offerings.
Pieters also emphasized the benefits of the new Movu eligo robot picking arm for customers. With the ability to handle a wide range of products and automate the picking process, the eligo can increase productivity and volume while reducing reliance on manual labor.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning play a crucial role in the Movu eligo and future Movu products. AI enables the robot to recognize product locations and determine how to grasp them, while machine learning ensures continuous improvement in successful picks. The company believes that AI will also play a role in optimizing other aspects of their operations, such as product steering and installation performance.
