    Teachers Attend Workshop on Introduction to Robotics at JU

    Teachers from the Engineering and Science streams gathered at the Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu, to attend a two-day workshop on ‘Introduction to Robotics’ conducted by e-Yantra, a robotics outreach program funded by the Ministry of Education and hosted at IIT Bombay.

    The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the faculty in the latest developments in robotics. The event was inaugurated by Prof Rajnikant, Dean of Research Studies at the University of Jammu, who emphasized the importance of continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in the field.

    Prof Kavi Arya, Principal Investigator of e-Yantra and Professor at CSE Department, IIT Bombay, highlighted the significance of hands-on training in micro-controller programming using robotics kits. He mentioned that over 400 robotics labs have been established across the country with the goal of nurturing young engineers’ interest in solving real-world problems using advanced technology.

    Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Head of the Department of Computer Science & IT at the University of Jammu, spoke about the department’s commitment to academic and research initiatives. He also informed that participants from more than 20 institutions across different states had registered for the workshop, which would be conducted by resource persons from e-Yantra.

    During the workshop, the participants would have the opportunity to work with robotics kits in computer labs. The sessions would be facilitated by Kalind Karia and Harish Vikinesh from e-Yantra, IIT Bombay.

    The inauguration was attended by Prof Vinod Sharma, Dr Shubhnandan S Jamwal, Jasbir Singh, Dr Suresh Rao, Namrata Karlupia, Dr Rajneet Kaur, Haneet Kour, Ayusi Gupta, Anil Tickoo, Sanjay Manhas, Gurpal, Dr Sudesh Tripathi, research scholars, technical staff, and participants from various institutions across neighboring states.

    This workshop not only provides teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills in robotics but also fosters their interest in this field, which will benefit the students they teach.
