With over 3 million people employed in the EU-27, the mechanical and plant engineering sector is the largest employer in the capital goods industries.
The turnover volume of the industry in the European Union is estimated to be around 860 billion euros, with approximately 80% of the machinery sold in the EU coming from German manufacturing plants.
